It was early, when we left Cluis. First of all we had to cross a Viaduct used by the railways long time ago. The view of the bridge was just sensational.
Je früher der Morgen, desto länger die Schatten the earlier the mornings, the longer the shadows. |

Our goal for the day was Gargilesse-Dampierre, 15 km to go. This village is proud to be a part of the history of George Sand. This cute village is kept in a small valley.

In the Crypt of the church, you can find some Freskos from the 11th century. The rest of the Church is a rather poor stage. I hope, the Freskos could be conserved for a long time, to be visited by many pilgrims and tourists.

Burge und Schlösser Forts and Castles |
The appearence of a castle or a fort is part of almost every village or city in the region. We are close to the region Limousin, which is formed by the Massiv Central, though rather hilly with deep gorges formed by the erosion of the rivers. I am looking forward to enjoy this region.
